New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori refuses to apologize for the easy capitulation of his team to Australia at the World Cup.
After a couple of days of grueling emotional players in touch with friends and family following the deadly earthquake in Christchurch, caps blacks have a week to back up their confidence and clear your head before their first group match against Zimbabwe.
But Vettori does not want to blame the poor showing of his team on distractions dark house.
"It would probably be unfair to people who are worse off than they are much more here to say that was the reason I did not play very well," Vettori said.
But aside from Vettori admirable reluctance to use the tragedy as an excuse, it is clear that events in turn affected the players.
The team was without a coach and physiotherapist, as the pair were in a hurry to New Zealand to help families, while the players have expressed their concern and support for their fellow countrymen through Twitter and information sessions.
After the humiliating defeat of seven windows to Australia in Nagpur, the black hat are willing to give the fans something to celebrate at home.
