Former Brescia coach Carlo Mazzone and Naples denied that come out of retirement to take the reins at Roma after Claudio Ranieri has tendered his resignation earlier this evening.
Mazzone also led Giallorossi driver between 1993 and 1996, but has ruled out a return to the bench. He also denied that a player revolt helped Ranieri door Trigoria.
"Mazzone is a former coach," the 73-year-old told sports radio in an interview.
"I do not think it was the players who helped oust the coach. I think the players will not lose the field on a voluntary basis and help drive the coach.
"This is not the case in football. You can imagine, but it is only a thought for those who have never played. Performance today was terrible [losing 4-3 to Genoa after led 3-0 at halftime], since it never happened in the history of Roma, but that does not mean that players play to lose, otherwise they would not have scored three goals.
