Cardinal Wears ASU Down in 2nd Half For 72-54 Win

Playing for a team missing its point guard, who was beaten by 47 just a month ago, Stanford had an unexpected battle.

It pained by Cardinal beat the ball inside, walk away with an egg! a victory which puts them in a victory for the longest match winning streak in the history of Pac-10.

Kayla Pedersen was a double-double in the final home game of his collegiate career at Stanford and No. 4 Arizona State wore down the second half 72-54 on Thursday night of his forty-seventh straight Pac-10 win.

"We had to do different things to win, and I thought we did these things, but it was not enough," Stanford coach Tara watering Hicks said.

Stanford (19-2, 10-0 Pac-10) rolled over Arizona State in the teams first meeting, but working through a sloppy first half against the pressure of the State of Arizona. Cardinal pulled down the stretch by working the ball inside, dominating the Sun Devils 34-18 in the paint and grabbing 12 rebounds more.

Pedersen, as it has most of the season, was the catalyst, filling the stat sheet with 15 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and two steals. Jeanette Pohlen led the Cardinal with 19 points, despite the failure of the second half, added 17 Nnemkadi Ogwumike and her sister, Chiney, took 11 rebounds.
