Bravard Lifts Seminoles Past Virginia, 78-74

Cierra Bravard and No. 19 Florida State has its way with Virginia, which dominates the interior and on the way to win the ACC bumpy road.

And then they had to risk everything to go away.

But Natasha Howard scored inside with 15.4 seconds left and Bravard hit a pair of free throws with 3.9 seconds left, each time after the Cavaliers closed within two, and the Seminoles days for a 78-74 victory Monday night, and some lessons learned.

"I think it just kind of lost focus and we could have a nice little '15 - lead to 16 points," Bravard said to lead, who was 67-51 with 7:23 to play. "We're not hustling after a loose ball in a good 5 or 6 minutes in there and we let them back into the game."

Bravard finished 22 points and nine rebounds, and only the second of his free throws in the final seconds were decreased coach Sue Semrau will be granted a sigh of relief.

And now she hopes her team will win the hosting.

"Whenever you can weather that kind of return on the road to the ACC, which should be good for you because we need to build our confidence," said Semrau.
