Westwood Played Like a No. 1 But Has Not Won HSBC

Lee Westwood has done everything expected out of the No. 1 player in the world, HSBC Champions.

Only his second tournament play-in race three months, and his first since replacing Tiger Woods at the top of world rankings, Westwood went into the weekend just one stroke behind Francesco Molinari.

English does not make a bogey over the last two rounds, combined with round low of the day Saturday and Sunday, and I ended up in the same place he started. "No negatives in a performance like that," said Westwood.

"I mean, an 18-under par and nine strokes clear of third never too bad '. It was an indication of how well Molinari and Westwood played in World Golf Championship last year.

Molinari also shot 67-67 on the weekend, including a birdie on the main 16 hole, which gave him a cushion, and won the HSBC Champions by one stroke for his first win in four years.
