Chiba Lotte Marines defeated the Chunichi Dragons 8-7 on Sunday to win the series in seven games in Japan.
Lotte won the series four games to two and a draw in their first championship since the team was led by American Bobby Valentine in 2005.

The Marines finished third in the Pacific League to qualify for the playoffs. They became the first team in Japanese baseball history to finish third and will win the series in Japan.
