Phillip McDonald hit a season-high six 3-pointers in scoring 20 points Wednesday night to help New Mexico to a 71-46 victory over TCU.
Five rounds of McDonald's long-haul came during the 7:37 stretch inserted around halftime. His baseline jumper from the dam began with 4:48 still in the first half, breaking the 19-19 tie.
McDonald quickly followed by two 3-pointers in the 15-6 run that left New Mexico (14-7, 2-4 Mountain West) leading 34-25 at halftime.
Hank Thorns led the Horned Frogs (10-12, 1-6) and 11 points. TCU played without leading scorer Ronnie Moss, who made the trip for unknown reasons.
The Lobos Drew Gordon contributed 12 points and 11 rebounds for his fourth double-double in the last five games.
