A defense lawyer said the Tennessee Titans backup quarterback Chris Simms is innocent and will fight for "civil rights and reputation."
Lawyer Kim Richman accompanied Simms for a brief court appearance Manhattan Tuesday. The footballer is back before the judge about the May 2
Simms already rejected what prosecutors said was a plea agreement last chance in January.
The son of 30-year-old former quarterback Phil Simms New York Giants was intercepted at a police checkpoint sobriety began in July. An officer said a zombie-like Simms said he had smoked marijuana in the car. Simms refused to say.
