Jaguars Place ‘Too Bbig Of a Load’ on Garrard, Fall

With star running back Maurice Jones-Drew sidelined because of a knee injury, built Jacksonville Jaguars The Game Plan around quarterback David Garrard.
Kevin Barnes intercepted a pass from Garrard seconds in overtime, setting up Graham Gano destination on earth for 31 yards that gave the Washington Redskins a 20-17 victory and ended a four-game series on Sunday.

"We have put an excessive burden on David. Unable to lead to," coach Jack Del Rio. "It's a heavy burden."

Now with the playoffs likely out of reach, the biggest question at Jaguars (8-7) will again be on Garrard's future with the franchise. Her performance goes back and forth on Sunday was a microcosm of his career.

Garrard completed 22 of 38 passes for 299 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He ran for a touchdown but also had four sacks and escaped twice.

His last error was the most embarrassing. Under strong pressure on third down, Garrard floated a pass to the sideline. Barnes spoke to Marced Lewis and put the Redskins in position for the winning shot Gano.
